Reach Your Target Heart Rate So Every Workout Counts

What You Need To Know:

Your resting heart rate is the number of times your heart beats per minute during a restful state. The average resting heart rate is 60-80 beats per minute. Your target heart rate shows you the range of beats per minute that you need to maintain in order to get maximum calorie and fat burning benefits. Anything outside of your range means that you are not working hard enough or you are working too hard.

Calculating Your Target Heart Rate (THR)

  1. Place the tips of your first two fingers on the carotid artery on your neck
  2. Count your pulse for ten seconds
  3. Multiply this number by six to determine beats per minute- this is your THR
